Management expects the number of passengers in Frankfurt to increase from 61m in 2016 to 64m this year. This brings the capacity of terminals 1 and 2 almost to the limit.
As Fraport has started to attract budget airlines to this airport, it needs additional capacities rather sooner than later. Consequently, management has decided to bring the completion of Gate G (part of the all-new terminal 3) forward. Instead of 2023, it will now be completed by 2020 and raise the capacity to 70m.
