BMW started a venture capital fund in 2011 with an initial investment of $100m. This is now to be expanded to $500m within the next ten years. The fund, called ‘BMW i Ventures’, has been moved from NYC to Mountain View, CA, to have closer access to the technology developed in the Silicon Valley.
