Whitbread has announced that it had agreed to sell Costa Coffee to Coca-Cola for £3.9bn. The transaction price for an enterprise value of £3.9bn, represents 16.4x Costa’s FY 18 EBITDA. The transaction is conditional on agreement by Whitbread’s shareholders and is expected to be completed in the first half of 2019. The company’s FY 18/19 guidance and long-term target remain unchanged.
