88 Energy has announced the results from the Merlin-2 wireline programme. Whilst the early results of the well were encouraging, analysis from the wireline programme has demonstrated that the target zones have lower than anticipated porosity and permeability. The results are largely consistent with the Merlin-1 well drilled in 2021, in which 88 Energy demonstrated the presence of an active petroleum system.
