This week we attended a site visit to Gulf Keystone’s Shaikan field in the KRI. We drove from Erbil for just over two hours to reach the field. Shaikan is a large anticline visible at surface, and as such the Shaikan wells are located across a series of mountains. These are essentially split into two main areas by a river valley, leading to two main production centres based on Gulf Keystone’s PF-1 and PF-2 facilities (see company field map below).
