JOG has announced the result of its Verbier well, which has been drilled on the P2170 licence by JV partner Statoil. The well encountered Upper Jurassic sandstone reservoir, but this was water bearing, and the well will now be logged. The Upper Jurassic sands were penetrated at a greater depth than expected, and below the oil-down-to level recorded in equivalent sandstones found in the 2006 drilled 20/5a-10Y well (which tested at 4.8mbbl/d and was interpreted to be on the flank of the Verbier
