Not surprisingly due to the recent bout of equity volatility, there has been a rush into the traditional safe havens of gold, the Japanese Yen and US Treasuries. In our view though, these crowded trades are now expensive, and may be vulnerable when sentiment recovers. Instead we think there are more attractively priced ‘habours’ to shelter one’s money – for example in economically resilient areas like UK infrastructure, housebuilding and construction (IHC).
