FTSE 100 started on the front foot after the inauguration of Joe Biden fuelled hopes for more economic stimulus. London’s leading index added 27 points to 6,767 in early trading but this early optimism was soon lost.
Saga PLC (LON:SAGA) said all customers going on one of its holidays or cruises in 2021 must be vaccinated against COVID-19. The operator, which mostly serves people over-50, is resuming travel packages in May.
Among the small caps, Clipper Logistics PLC (LON:CLG) has agreed to provide distribution services for Farfetch, an online luxury fashion retailer. The deal will grow Clipper’s European operations by 30%.
Quadrise Fuels International PLC (LON:QFI) has inked a partnership deal with a subsidiary of MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company. The synthetic oil producer will supply its partner’s fleet of commercial container vessels.
Finally, Cobra Resources PLC (LON:COBR) has announced significant gold intercepts at the Baggy Green deposit. The Australian miner estimates a resource of 94,000 ounces.
