Iofina (LON:IOF) expects the iodine price will continue to rise in 2020 after a 20% rise in 2019. Production of iodine over the year will also likely be a record said the extraction specialist with a fifth plant expected to come onstream in Oklahoma in the first half next year.
Shanta Gold (LON:SHG) has had its New Luika gold mine Tanzania connected to the country’s national grid. Initially, some 10% of the mine’s power will be supplied from the grid at a cost of approximately half self-generated power.
Cadogan Petroleum (LON:CAD) has received final approval for the 20-year production licence for the Blazhiv field in the Ukraine. The company has already paid the license fees and has started production.
Greencoat UK Wind (LON:UKW) is to buy the subsidy-free Windy Rig and Twentyshilling wind farms in Dumfries & Galloway in Scotland. The cost is £104mln payable once each wind farm is fully operational.
Andew Bailey was being strongly tipped to be announced today as the new Governor of the Bank of England in reports last night. Bailey is currently chief executive of the Financial Conduct Authority.
