Rio Tinto is currently allocating 61% of its global exploration budget (US$497m in 2016) to look for copper with 16 active large copper exploration projects in hand. We look at the major drivers and consider the outlook for three copper producers within our current coverage universe: Central Asia Metals, Atalaya Mining and Weatherly International.
