aap Implantate is undergoing a strategic transition to being a pure trauma company and Q1 results, which were within guidance, set the scene for the group in its new shape. The completed sale of its biomaterials business (based on an assumed enterprise value of €36m), a drive to growth in Western Europe and the US and cost reshaping should support management’s guidance of 20% growth in trauma products and sales in the continued operation of €13-15m in FY16.

US LOQTEQ launch poised to drive H2 recovery

As aap gears up for a US launch of LOQTEQ in H2, its FY15 guidance looks attainable. As expected, Q2 trading was soft, reflecting the lumpy orders in Biomaterials. Taking into account the combined effect of €5m lower net cash and rolling forward, we trim our valuation from €3.05 to €2.96/share.

LOQTEQ set for launch in the US in Q3

aap should reach its FY15 guidance after a solid Q1 and distribution deals enabling a US launch of LOQTEQ in Q3.
