VIDEO CONTENT. Weiss Korea Opportunity Fund (WKOF LN) was launched in May 2013 with a fund raise of £105m. Its investment objective is to generate an attractive long-term return through appreciation by investing in South Korean “preferred” shares. Most Korean preferred shares are effectively non-voting common shares. These preferred shares are generally entitled to the same dividend as the common voting shares plus an additional fixed amount, to compensate them for the lack of voting rights. Many of the preferred shares trade at a substantial discount compared to the common shares. This provides an attractive entry point with both higher dividend yields and lower price to earnings ratios.
