Drax has announced that it has successfully commissioned the 299MW Hirwaun open cycle gas turbine (OCGT) power station, the first of the three flexible generation projects the company is developing for the GB market. This follows the April trading update that expected commissioning shortly and so the timing is in line with those expectations. The second and third units, Millbrook and Progress, are expected to commence commissioning later this year.
