The German associate has performed strongly in recent periods and management had indicated that capital investment in this area would be considered in order to provide better forward trading visibility. The establishment of this coal grinding plant will replace Monckton Coke Works (closed Dec 14) as a strategic production asset from which to base trading flows. This investment will not affect forecasts in the short term, but is a sensible move to improve the quality and predictability of Germany’s profit streams.
