ATOME PLC (AIM:ATOM) chairman Peter Levine talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunniuon about the company’s latest developments, including its expansion into solar power generation and updates on the Villeta fertiliser project.
Levine said the motivation behind the company's incentive announcement was “a carrot and a stick”—rewarding management for achievements to date and ensuring commitment through share premiums and lock-ins. He emphasised that ATOME has moved from a standing start to being “at the forefront of the green fertiliser industry within four years,” crediting a lean but effective team.
Levine also explained the rationale behind the newly announced ATOME Power division. Despite Paraguay’s current abundance of renewable energy, Levine noted the national grid is increasingly burdened, especially due to the country’s growing role as a crypto and data hub. ATOME’s new project aims to meet future demand through a large-scale solar and battery setup. “Words cannot convey how exciting this opportunity is,” he said, adding that ATOME has the land, water, and infrastructure to deliver viable power solutions.
Regarding the Villeta fertiliser project, Levine acknowledged delays but maintained confidence. He cited complex negotiations and dependencies on third parties but stressed that “we are working 24/7 to make sure it happens.” He reassured investors that the power supply for the fertiliser division is guaranteed due to its status as a national priority.
He also clarified that ATOME Power will not distract management from Villeta. “This is going on independently and has done for a few months,” he said.
In closing, Levine said ATOME has a pipeline of opportunities and is determined to progress from project one to project two. “ATOME has got legs, watch us run.”
