Olivier Mussat, CEO of ATOME PLC (AIM:ATOM) discussed the company's status and strategic direction at the Proactive One2One investor forum.
The company aims to leverage its early start in the hydrogen economy to establish a strong market position. Fertilizer, a $200 billion industry, significantly contributes to carbon emissions. ATOME's strategy focuses on disciplined project development and de-risking to ensure success.
The Paraguay project, named Vita, will produce 270,000 tonnes of green fertilizer annually, reducing CO2 emissions by 1.7 tonnes per tonne of fertilizer. The project benefits from Paraguay's cheap hydroelectric power. ATOME plans to replicate this model in Costa Rica and expand further in Paraguay.
Mussat underscored the importance of long-term power supply agreements and local alignment. ATOME aims to produce green fertilizer at a competitive cost while addressing food security and climate challenges. The company has strong investor support, including Schroders and Baker Hughes. Future projects will focus on scaling production and leveraging existing infrastructure to minimize risks.
