CleanTech Lithium PLC (AIM:CTL, OTCQX:CTLHF) Chairman Steve Kesler joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share the positive results of recent Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) process test work conducted by the company. These results have informed the selection and ordering of the lithium adsorbent to be used in CleanTech Lithium's pilot plant, which has been constructed at the company's R&D Centre in Copiapó and is currently in the process of being commissioned and tested.
Kesler explained that the extensive DLE work carried out in 2023 to optimize the process has led the company to choose adsorbent from Xián Lanshen New Material Technology as the preferred adsorbent for its pilot plant. Multi-cycle tests on Laguna Verde brine have yielded very positive results for key DLE metrics, including adsorbent capacity, lithium recovery rates, and eluate composition.
Lanshen is a leading company in the field of DLE and has an exclusive distribution agreement with Koch Technology Solutions, a subsidiary of Koch Industries, for Lanshen adsorbent in North American and European markets. The Lanshen adsorbent offers high selectivity for lithium, resulting in low levels of other major ions in the eluate, including sodium (Na), which is crucial for efficient lithium extraction.
CleanTech Lithium's selection of this adsorbent reflects its commitment to developing an effective and environmentally friendly lithium extraction process for the production of high-purity lithium products, essential for the growing demand in the electric vehicle and renewable energy sectors.
