Cordiant Digital Infrastructure Ltd Chairman Steven Marshall talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company’s capital allocation strategy and growth outlook, particularly in the context of rising interest rates and macroeconomic pressures.
Marshall highlighted how Cordiant Digital has strategically invested in cash-generative assets within two of Europe’s fastest-growing economies—Poland and the Czech Republic. “We can actually buy small bolt-on businesses, we can invest in organic growth, which actually is at a much lower cost than actually the buyback rates that we're getting,” Marshall said.
The company has balanced yield and reinvestment, maintaining a dividend yield just under 5%, which is currently covered 1.8 times by free cash flow. Marshall explained the business has focused on acquiring quality mid-market assets with strong management teams and brand value.
Looking ahead, Cordiant Digital aims to continue growing its portfolio through bolt-on acquisitions and organic investments, such as expanding distributed antenna broadband networks in Prague and Warsaw, and further developing data centre and mobile tower infrastructure in Poland.
Marshall indicated the company is unlikely to pursue additional share buybacks in the short term, preferring to direct capital towards growth opportunities offering better long-term returns.
