Foresight Environmental Infrastructure (LSE:FGEN) investment managers Edward Mountney and Charlie Wright talked with Proactive about the trust’s diversified investment approach and long-term income focus within the environmental infrastructure sector.
Mountney explained that environmental infrastructure comprises assets supporting decarbonisation and sustainable resource management. He said: “We really see this subset of infrastructure as being one of the most exciting and largest, most significant investment opportunities of our generation.”
FGEN’s portfolio is structured around three pillars: renewable energy generation, other energy infrastructure, and sustainable resource management. Around 90% of the portfolio is currently UK-based. Mountney noted that familiarity and regulatory stability make the UK a core geography, though international experience is leveraged selectively.
Wright outlined the trust’s income focus, stating that _“51% of our revenues on an NPV basis are tied to RPI,” underscoring inflation linkage. The current dividend target is 7.96p, with a yield of around 12%, backed by 11 years of progressive dividend growth.
The managers also highlighted newer areas such as clean transport, aquaculture, and glasshouse infrastructure, which offer growth potential. Portfolio exits in 2023 confirmed confidence in valuations and showed market appetite despite a more cautious buyer environment.
FGEN differentiates itself through diversification, stable returns, and Article 9 SFDR compliance.
