The FTSE 100 edged lower as trading got underway on Friday, following last night’s close in the red.
Among those falling was Land Securities Group, which unveiled reduced earnings and a loss for 2023 on the back of a lower valuation for its property portfolio.
GSK also dipped as the market opened after announcing the sale of its stake in Haleon for £1.25 billion.
Sainsbury’s rose in the meantime on the back of a new partnership with Microsoft to roll out AI across its supermarkets, including to aid with restocking and introducing new products.
And finally, among small caps, IQ-AI jumped on news its advanced imaging software had been successfully installed by Swiss hospital group Insel Gruppe.
