Great Southern Copper PLC (LSE:GSCU) CEO Sam Garrett joins Proactive’s Tylah Tully to discuss the identification of a new porphyry copper-gold target at Viuda prospect within the Especularita Project in Chile.
Recent mapping and sampling revealed high-grade mineralisation, with rock chip samples showing up to 3.5% copper, 13.85 g/t gold and 56.6 g/t silver.
Of the 55 samples collected, 10 returned copper assay grades exceeding 1.0%. These findings support the potential for a significant porphyry copper-gold system.
The Viuda prospect spans a 16 square kilometre area in the coastal metallogenic belt of Chile, featuring extensive zones of advanced argillic to phyllic alteration, which may signal the presence of a deeper potassic copper system.
There is no evidence of previous exploration drilling at the site, further enhancing its exploration potential. GSC plans to continue with further detailed mapping, sampling and possibly geophysical surveys to prepare the area for drilling.
Garrett highlighted that this discovery strengthened the company's pipeline of drill target opportunities within the Especularita Project.
