What happened?
Per an article in French newspaper La Lettre this morning, the French ''Direction generale de l''armement'' (DGA), part of the French Ministry of Defence, has abandoned the mega-digital SIA 2 project providing command and control software and offered by Thales-Sopra Steria. The article mentions that Danish player Systematic has inherited the contract.
BNPP Exane View:
We had a quick chat with Sopra Steria this morning.
The company strongly denies that it has lost the contract with the DGA: the project has not been put on hold, it is in deployment phase. As a result, Sopra Steria does not expect any negative impact on its Defence revenue neither in the coming quarters nor in the medium-term.
Sopra Steria did not rule out that the Danish solution provider Systematic may gain contracts with the DGA in the future, given that its solutions are already being used by other NATO nations. However, the company is still confident they would be able to provide integration services related to these solutions if that is indeed the case.
