This morning’s RNS release marks another important step toward the commercialisation of Ilika’s proprietary, solid-state-battery (‘SSB’) Goliath platform for electric vehicles (‘EVs’). Building on prior UK government grant-funded HISTORY & SiSTEM projects, which successfully progressed the platform, Ilika commences the PRIMED programme, with UK automotive expertise joining the program steering committee via Jaguar Land Rover and Paul Shearing - Professor of Sustainable Energy Engineering at the Department of Engineering Science and Director of the ZERO Institute at Oxford University. PRIMED leverages top UK automotive expertise, UK government funding, and the world-class UKBIC (‘UK Battery Industrialisation Centre’) production scale-up facility, to deliver P2 Goliath prototypes, 50Ah A-sample batteries and a clear modelled route to commercial, giga-scale production. The continued UK government funding and contribution of top-class human and industrial resource into commercialising Ilika’s Goliath SSB platform, demonstrates Ilika establishing itself as the UK flagship for next-generation, high-performance, solid-state battery technology for EV application.
