Foresight Environmental Infrastructure Investment Manager Ed Mountney presented at the Proactive One2One Investor Forum and touched on the fund’s strategy, portfolio and performance.
Mountney began by outlining the group’s diversified approach to investing in essential environmental infrastructure, a portfolio spanning renewable energy, resource management, and low-carbon transport. He said, “No single technology can get us to net zero on its own,” underscoring the importance of investing across wind, solar, hydro, biomass, anaerobic digestion and battery storage.
Mountney explained that around 90% of assets are UK-based, and 92% are already operational. The fund’s current yield is over 11%, underpinned by high dividend cover, low gearing of under 30%, and robust cash generation.
Foresight’s capital allocation strategy includes reducing gearing, asset sales, and share buybacks, while continuing to grow cash flows and dividends. Mountney said the fund is “perfectly positioned to benefit from the massive opportunity set ahead.”
