Good morning from London where the FTSE 100 fell back from its four-month highs early on, before rebounding slightly.
The big fallers were the big mining companies and gambling group Entain PLC (LSE:ENT), who announced this morning that some unexpected sports results recently have been costing them their margin.
Aviva PLC (LSE:AV.) shares also fell as investors seemed unconvinced over the insurer's deal to buy AIG's UK protection business for £460 million. A better start came for GSK PLC (LSE:GSK, NYSE:GSK) though, which rose on news that Japanese authorities approved its RSV drug Arexvy for use in those aged 60 and over.
Elsewhere, European and British-based carmakers signalled post-Brexit tariffs could cost the industry billions of pounds over the next three years, and that’s put Renault and BMW in the red early on.
And with the small caps, Spectra Systems Corporation (AIM:SPSY, OTC:SCTQ) climbed after signalling record earnings for the year following a bumper first-half performance. That’s all for this morning, have a great week.
