Good morning from London where the FTSE 100 is up very slightly so far at around 7,630 points.
The biggest gainer in percentage terms is specialist engineering company IMI PLC (LSE:IMI), while British Gas owner Centrica PLC (LSE:CNA) is today’s biggest faller. The company received a rare 'sell 'recommendation yesterday, and it looks like the market has responded accordingly.
Travel and insurance business Saga PLC (LSE:SAGA) have also had a positive start to the day, announcing higher revenues and a pause on the sale of its underwriting business after lifting its full-year guidance.
Ithaca Energy PLC (LSE:ITH) shares were up even higher meanwhile, after regulators gave the green light for the development of its 20% owned Rosebank field in the North Sea.
Elsewhere, Flutter Entertainment PLC (LSE:FLTR) announced it had bought a majority stake in Serbia’s MaxBet, offering the Paddy Power owner access to another new market.
ChatGPT owner OpenAI is reportedly in talks to raise funds in a deal that could boost its valuation from US$29 billion to as much as US$90 billion.
And back in Britain, Pendragon Group (LSE:PDG) shares soared after the car dealer announced higher sales and profits on the back of a recovering new car market.
