This month, following another weak manufacturing PMI reading in the UK, we look at how this translates to our UK listed industrials peer group. Performing a simple linear regression of company revenue growth against PMI readings, we show that PMI does have a small but significant impact on the majority of companies in the peer group. Unsurprisingly, company-specific factors remain overwhelmingly important, showing that despite a generally weak backdrop you can’t keep good companies down!
