In the week to 19 April the FTSE All Share rose 2.4% vs. -0.5% for the Insurance Index and -1.2% for the Lloyd’s Index. The best performer this week was Lancashire (+3.6%); Beazley was the worst performer (-4.9%). We look at the latest forecasts for the 2016 hurricane season which predict an average season despite the very rare occurrence of a January hurricane. The Lloyd’s insurers have a material exposure to major US storms, but Florida has not had a significant loss since 2005.
